I am a software engineer and ICT professional, currently serving as a mobile application developer at the Co-operative Bank of Kenya. I specialize in Android development, fintech systems, payment technologies, ICT governance, cybersecurity compliance, and enterprise software integrations. Throughout my career, I have designed and certified PCI-DSS-compliant payment solutions deployed across Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Ethiopia, working with payment platforms including SmartVista, BASE24-eps, Postilion, S2M, and Finacle. My experience spans mobile banking, POS systems, cloud infrastructure, DevOps, and AI-powered solutions, with a strong focus on delivering secure, scalable, and compliant financial technology.

What I bring

My notable achievements include leading the development and certification of PCI-DSS-compliant payment applications deployed across multiple banking institutions in Kenya, Tanzania, Rwanda, and Ethiopia. I developed and certified Android payment applications for NMB Bank on Sunmi P2-SE and Nexgo N86 POS devices and Family Bank on Ingenico Axium DX devices and developed the SDK for Awash Bank on Ingenico Axium DX devices. I also enhanced the AAR SDK for CRDB Bank across Nexgo and Telpo POS devices and successfully implemented Terminal Management System functionalities for six banks in four countries, significantly improving remote terminal management and operational efficiency. These accomplishments reflect my expertise in payment systems, device integrations, PCI compliance, payment scheme certifications , and delivering secure, enterprise-grade fintech solutions in highly regulated environments.

My journey

Previously, I worked as a telecommunications engineer at Guzzer Technologies, where I specialized in network troubleshooting, construction, and maintenance. I also gained valuable experience in data science and analytics during my internship at the African Economic Research Consortium , where I managed research data using SQL and Microsoft Azure, implemented Electronic Document and Records Management Systems , and developed interactive Power BI dashboards to support data-driven decision-making.

Design and develop mobile banking applications applying MVVM/Clean Architecture principles to ensure optimal performance, scalability, and secure data handling aligned with bank security policies.

Managed POS infrastructure, Terminal Management Systems (TMS), and containerized production deployments using Kubernetes and Docker. Led Visa, Mastercard, and UPI certification processes; performed SQL/Python-based transaction analysis; managed vendor and client relationships; delivered technical training; and ensured ICT governance, security, and compliance across multi-country banking deployments. Mentored junior POS engineers and Tracom Academy trainees, providing technical guidance, code reviews, and team leadership to support skill development and successful project delivery.

Key Achievements:

Recognized as Employee of the Month (May 2025) for exceptional contributions to software development, fintech solutions, and POS system innovation.
Developed and certified (Visa, Mastercard & UPI) the Android applications deployed across all NMB Bank (Tanzania) Sunmi P2-SE and Nexgo N86 POS devices on the SmartVista™ switch, in full compliance with international payment scheme requirements.
Developed both agency banking and merchant acquiring; completed VISA certification for the Android application for Family Bank (Kenya) on Ingenico Axium DX POS devices by Postilion® TermApp.ISO switch.
Developed the SDK for Awash Bank (Ethiopia) on Ingenico Axium DX POS devices (S2M switch) and deployed to production.
